Night Riveria Sleeper

Looking to book the Night Riveria in combination with an Explore Devon and Cornwall Ranger

As the the sleeper leaves Reading at 0049, does this count as one day from 0001 to 0429 the next day on the ranger? So I can use it to travel on the sleeper from Exeter down to Penzance and then up to Plymouth the evening after arriving?

How does one book the sleeper in combination? Seems like you have to book a flexible ticket from Reading to Penzance to book the berth

Are you travelling on a Friday night/Saturday morning or on the Sunday night/Monday morning if a bank holiday? If not you'll find the tickets you're looking at aren't valid until 9am.

There is no one day Devon & Cornwall tickets any more, just 3 in 7 tickets and the one day Rangers are for Devon or Cornwall so you would need both.

Was looking at getting the 3 in 7 day one. Planning to start in Penzance and slowly head east to Exeter

I think you mean the Freedom of Devon and Cornwall (FODC)? I couldn't find an Explore Devon and Cornwall Ranger. The restriction code on the FODC is B3, which means:

Not valid on trains timed to depart after 04:29 and before 09:00.

The Night Riviera passes through Tiverton Parkway (the first station within the area of validity) today at 03:57. The timings might differ slightly depending on the engineering works that are happening on the night you travel, but it will generally tend to be before 04:29. So I would see no reason it wouldn't be valid when combined with a ticket from Reading to Tiverton Parkway.

Furthermore, although restriction code B3 doesn't mention it, GWR's policy more generally is that there are no further restrictions after alighting the westbound Night Riviera. See for example restriction code YU, used for a Super Off-Peak ticket from Reading to Tiverton Parkway:

If travelling on the Great Western Railway 'Night Riviera' sleeper service in the westbound direction, customers may continue their journey after alighting from the sleeper in the morning without further restriction.

So yes, this would seem entirely valid.

In terms of getting a berth, you can do this separately from buying a ticket simply by paying the berth fee. You would have to go to a ticket office, or call GWR, to do so.

Yes it is that ticket I am thinking of

I will give them a call tomorrow and see what happens

I have my tickets booked, when I received them the single ticket part is dated for the 7th October but the sleeper reservation is dated the 8th.
Is this correct?
