According to Realtime trains, the down NR sleeper failed en route last night, and from Exeter was taken over by two Sprinter units to complete the journey (158760 + 150263)

At the best of times this isn't ideal, but for a Sleeper must be especially bad as you have to wake the passengers up and transfer them to units without all the luxuries. Timing wise though it did manage to get to Penzance only 9L, having been 42L out of Taunton.

I don’t know what’s wrong with it but according to OTT it’s still fast asleep at EXD. Will it make it to PZ for 1A50 tonight?IMG_1902.jpeg

150s very much not ideal, but at least GWR have the option to do that - Caledonian Sleeper don't as all the stock they have is the Sleeper stock so they're stuck with buses or nothing if things go wrong for them.

2021 I was booked Euston-Aberdeen, they didn’t have a driver for Edinburgh-Aberdeen, so they put us on Scotrail, 1st class on an Inter7City, not bad at all

The 158 conveyed the passengers (there weren’t a huge number onboard); the 150 was tagged on the back as a positioning move to cover for another 150 failing in Cornwall.

Not shown, was it was dragged from Taunton to Exeter by WCRC 57601

Did that come all the way over from Southall, or was it stationed somewhere nearer at the time?
It was at Fairwater Yard having arrived in the early hours of 16/01 with two ZZA snow ploughs and 47832

It seems the sleeper 57 experienced a loud bang accompanied by black smoke coming down Cogload. Afterwards if the power handle was opened the loco vibrated violently.

A toss up between using the 57 or 47832. Would the sleeper driver drive with the wcrc man as second man ?.Or vice vesa.

If it was going at top permissible speed at the time, then it might have just about coasted to Taunton from there.

802 003 doing this.

I wonder if this means a daylight positioning move to Reading tomorrow to get the Sleeper rake back in the right place for Sunday night?
