I've just been reviewing this thread, and someone mentions CT Cl323's as Caterpillars. It's not quite what I had in mind, but it's close enough. A Caterpillar is a train in CT green.

Live Cargo is not a passenger train but the passengers themselves. Again, close enough.

Tandem - where two or more locomotives are coupled and have drivers in each, not multiple, where there is only one driver (usually if it is of a different class of loco and doesn't have a multiple working system like blue star or red diamond)

all correct bar the last one, TDK - Roller skates are class 20s as they are used in pairs
and another name for prison stock can be monkey cage, and yes, to prevent flailing out of the windows on certain southern slammers

313's will dump brakes instantly if you take your foot off the deadmans...no vigilance fitted..at least not on ours!

CEB - Cab Enviroment Break

DSD/Vigilance is about 4 seconds on a 319.

On a 317/1 (well 317301-317316 anyway) there is no Vigilance and the DSD doesn't bleep, you have to keep the pedal down.

No vigilance on Cl317's at all, and none on the Cl315's either except for the three FGE refurbs. The Cl317 will give you a couple of seconds grace so that you can swap feet, but the Cl315 will bite you the instant that you release pressure.

IIRC, classes 153/5/8/9 give you 7 seconds. I know all 14X and 15X are fitted with DSD, but pacers and 150s / 156s are not fitted with VIG.

Crab = a Fowler(?) 5MT (42501?) - so-called because of its cylinder link motion.

Big 8 = Stanier 8F

Cheesebox = Met-Vick Co-Bo (e.g. D5703)
