I'm at Manchester Piccadilly, where they have just announced that on Platform 14 is the 14:14 service to Edinburgh. This being the year 2014, it's a pity it's not tomorrow as that would make it 14th of the month.

Any more apt coincidences?

When I was a fitter at Brighton, we had VEP 7877 on 8 road and 7787 on 7. That caused confusion.

I understand that when the CIGs were renumbered, Waterloo Control tried to get the CIGs into SLEO at the same time as the same numbered Oxted thumper.

And when Selhurst got the 319s they only used the last 4 numbers, which happened to coincide with the MLV numbering (e.g 319004).

Now quite the same as your example, I know, but just thought some might find it interesting.

I seem to recall that on the last day of operation of Eurostar services to and from Waterloo International, the last few departures from Paris to London were cancelled, and the last train from Gare Du Nord to Waterloo was scheduled to leave at quarter past six in the evening French time.

(18:15 to Waterloo -get it? Just to remind the French who won that battle!!)_

Not strictly railway related, in fact not related at all, I once heard an announcement at Ibiza airport for flight FR2022 to Turin. Sounds better when you say it in your head!

The tour went from Newcastle, via Sunderland and back round via Stockton and Yarm to head back down the ECML. The lights in our coach briefly started to work again as we passed the Tyne and Wear Metro station, Stadium of Light!

The tour went from Newcastle, via Sunderland and back round via Stockton and Yarm to head back down the ECML. The lights in our coach briefly started to work again as we passed the Tyne and Wear Metro station, Stadium of Light!

Reminds me of once when I was travelling from Liverpool to Chester on a dull, gloomy day. Just as we reached Port Sunlight the clouds cleared and a bright ray of sunshine lit up the train.
