Glasgow Central/Queen Street to Carlisle SVH 9.90 2R VWC is this an advance ticket??

Looks like an Off Peak Single to me, but must be a mistake if it's that price.

It's a 'Saver Half' and I don't think these are actually available to buy.

Its a "saver half" its a single that is only available as an alternative to an advance single if an advance ticket is bought to travel in the other direction.

The name "Saver Half" is too complex. It has been re-named Off Peak Single, although the code SVH has been retained. This ticket is not available singly, this is in line with ATOCs policy of "simple" fares not being simple. As the name suggests, this is different to an Off Peak Single (SVS) which is available singly. By keeping the names of 2 products the same as each other, passengers can "buy with confidence"

Example topics where this has been discussed include:

• Single off-peak fares on Virgin: half the price of a return - is this new??
• Virgin Super Off Peak Single Birmingham - London
• VWC Advance fares: Something screwy and unfair going on?
  
• SVH ticket from Stoke?
• Fare Type Acronyms

and possibly more, it does crop up surprisingly often for something claimed to be more "simple"

Isn't the basic bottom line the fact that SVH can only be purchased in combination with a Virgin Advance fare? (in the opposite direction for the same point-to-point journey)

That's what I remeber from when I worked for the Trainline.

The tended to be available when advance tickets couldn't be released because of engineering works.
