Next Train to Glasgow

Just a question about old BR signage. I'm at home in Barrhead visiting my family and I've just remembered the old "NEXT TRAIN TO GLASGOW" board. I know Gilmour Street has a similar display in a different format and I'm wondering if these were widespread, and when they started to disappear

Gourock and Wemyss Bay had something similar, Wemyss Bay's was a chalk board!

They might be coming back as digital signage. Queen Street has the next express to Edinburgh sign and they can be very handy for saving people from trawling through departure boards.

There used to be one at Waterloo East, I think - pointing to the next train to London Bridge rather than Glasgow! And I have a feeling there was and maybe is an electronic version too.

The main departure board at Manchester Piccadilly is all about "the next train to", as it's a three (?) sided board with all the destinations listed alphabetically. I've seen some elsewhere, but I can't remember where.

Yeah, these are quite common at NR managed stations, Manchester Picadilly uses them exclusively in place of a traditional departure board I think

"Next Fastest Train To" needs to be done quite carefully and isn't in some implementations.

They should only be advertising trains for which you can realistically reach the platform from the display location with 40 seconds to spare against the ETD.

There are screens out there that i've studied whilst watching a filtered raw Darwin feed on my laptop that don't move on to the next train until the currently advertised "Next fastest" has reported ATD which isn't until it has actually gone.

Manchester Airport usually shows the "Next train to Manchester" nowadays.
