I have 2 returns, Newtown (Powys) to London Terminals, for the end of the month. They state "Any permitted route".
Out is midweek, return Saturday.

My options appear to be:
Newtown, Salop, Crewe, London
Newtown, Salop, Newport, Paddington.
Newtown, Wolverhampton, Stafford, London.
Newtown, Birmingham Int, London.

If leaving Newtown on the 0830 (ish), what is the quickest allowed route to take? We would like to be in London at around midday.

If you get the 0846 to Wolverhampton, 1020 to Stafford and 1042 to Euston you should be in for 1159. I cant find a quicker route at any time of day and this route is permitted (checked with EC's route planner - and in any case the default that offers).

If you only changed at Birmingham, you'd get in at 1215.

The journey planners suggest the 0846 which arrives Euston at 1159 changing at Wolverhamption (a.1010, d.1020) and Stafford (a. 1034 d.1042).

Or ... I need to type faster!

8 minutes is more than sufficient if everything runs on time.
