Newton-le-Willows station car park

I know that prior to pandemic, Newton-le-Willows car park was always full with commuters. Is this still the case on a weekday morning (a Tuesday)? And how long can you stay? I think it is free, isn't it?

Believe it's still free. Can't comment as to how full it currently gets on a normal weekday.

Not helpful to your particular case, but I've noticed recently it's now possible to park at couple of stations I used to have trouble parking at on weekdays in the West Yorkshire area (Woodlesford, Outwood and ironically Garforth which had a car park extension just before the pandemic).

If nobody can offer a better answer I would just turn up well in advance of your train and hope for the best.

As far as I am aware it is free like the majority of stations within the Merseytravel boundary and operated by them which N.L.W is one of them. There are exceptions such as Hooton which comes under a Chester and West Cheshire Council (I think) and charge a nominal one pound (or did). Other members may have better knowledge?

Used the car park on the 13th April. There were spaces available but it was certainly much fuller than I expected. There did appear to be an area by the left side exit point that had no cars in it and although I didn't notice any specific notice restrictions, there might possibly be some as it was completely empty. The car park is free. If you did encounter problems, you can park on the road from the Lowton direction which is only a few minutes walk away from the station.
