An interesting day in store on Sunday 26th May 2013.

For much of the day the following routes will not be open due to engineering works:

- Cardiff to Newport
- Cardiff Queen Street to Radyr

Ah! So what do you do with the Ebbw Vale Parkway services? Run them to / from Newport of course by using the other spur from Park Junction!

OTT info for Sunday 26th May at:

I'm sorry but I do find that absolutely crazy. To have the Welsh capital cut off from England is absurd. I know engineering work has to be done, but surely can't it be done overnight? Maybe have all trains terminating at Newport after 10pm on Saturday and then have the first train on Sunday (0800 to London) call through. Sunday's are also actually very busy, it's full of weekenders going home after a few days away! Also, large suitcases and bikes and dogs cannot be conveyed on replacement buses either!

I have a feeling that Sunday will be very hectic indeed!!

Cardiff Queen Street to Radyr isn't too bad as there's also the City Line via Ninian Park (my local line!). Unfortunately, none of the trains stop there on Sundays, despite passing there often! The CDQ to RDR section is often shut for engineering work.

Luckily Cardiff to Radyr has two routes. I think Cardiff to Newport should also have an extra route!

The only possible way to travel up north by train on that day (if you really dislike buses) is to go via the Heart of Wales Line, although this would add a good 2-3 hours to the journey!
