TPE ran a train from Newcastle to Windermere and Blackpool today, the train splitting at Preston. Is this to be a regular service ?.

I caught it at Leeds after finding it due in on the TPE platforms and going via Manchester Victoria where I was heading.

Is this to be a regular service ?.

The Newcastle to Blackpool North is a regular train on Saturdays and the Windermere portion of the train is attached from Newcastle to Preston although I am not sure if its advertised as a through train normally.

There's not a regular train on a Saturday, all TPEs are booked to go to Liverpool Lime Street bar one to Manchester Airport and one very late to Piccadilly (this then goes to Depot).

This weekends services has been caused with engineering works that prevent the TPEs running through to Manchester Piccadilly from the North West and Liverpool Lime Street from the North East so they have combined the services as there isn't a lot of room at Victoria

They are working at Ordsall Lane so blocking Manchester Victoria to Earlstown, Manchester Deansgate to Salford Crescent & Earlstown. So Scotland to Manchester Airport is bus from Preston combined Newcastle to Manchester Victoria (not Liverpool) with a Manchester Victoria to Blackpool, Barrow and or Windermere all day as victorias hasn't the capacity to terminate so many trains. The line through Farnworth Tunnel is open this weekend.

Probably be happening until December due to overrun of Farnworth tunnel work. Identify which service it was and suggest check weekly in Real Time Trains.

Its only for engineering works, as mentioned above two separate services have been effectively combined to save capacity in Victoria.

Didnt stop me from delaying one on P3 yeaterday tho. Traincrew taxi stuck in traffic when city game chucked out. +28l as a result!

Oops!
