I have noticed that the NMT HST going to kings cross on march 30th (1Q18 1142 Newcastle to London Kings Cross) is scheduled to come from Newcastle as opposed to the usual derby rtc, I would be really grateful for any thoughts on whether this will be run by a colas rail hst or whether it will be the usual Network Rail Yellow banana set.

43257 and 43277 according to Freightmaster. Obviously it can change on the day, with Sunday being the day it leaves RTC

Further to trainmania100's reply, the NMT is under maintenance at Leicester all next week,
so PLPR-1 (hauled by 257+277 with OLE test coach Mentor) will be covering all its duties
between Sunday 29th and Good Friday.

Was waiting to board the 07:01 to Kings Cross at Central this morning. Searching for something else on the forum (why this train I'm on is comprised of 2 x 5s, haven't seen that before in 5 years of doing this commute).

Saw your thread - there was a 125 waiting on the far side of the tracks, numbered 43257 with Colas written on it.

I suspect this is linked to the weekend engineering work that has been taking place between Newcastle and Northallerton requiring additional diesel sets to cover the non-electrified diversionary route via Sunderland. The 0701 has been formed of 2 x 5 units for the last three Monday's but a 9-car unit for the rest of the week which would back up the theory.

Ah that makes sense, thank you. Only twigged it when my coach was one further down the platform than usual

Hope the OP gets what they need/want, I'm not up on all the terminology but I think it is the measuring train that's sat at NCL this morning.

After today's trip to Kings Cross, the train runs down to Marylebone on Wednesday evening:

...before running to Salisbury and Southampton on Thursday, and Penzance on Good Friday!
