Newby question - NCL to WTB

Sorry if this is basic knowledge, I'm still learning.

I'm planning a trip from Newcastle to Whitby, on a Saturday morning. Officially, there is a change involved at Middlesbrough. However, 1J68 which I will be travelling on, terminates at Middlesbrough at 10:13 on platform 2. 2E11 to Whitby starts at Middlesbrough at 10:21, also on platform 2.

Can anyone tell me, or point me in the right direction to find out, if the two different services are likely to be the same unit?

No, it's not the same unit. The arrival from Whitby is also planned to use platform 2 and arrives at 1018 for a very tight turnaround prior to the 1021 departure.

Looking on Realtime trains for last week, if you click into them (particularly in detailed mode) you can see they are formed of different units.
Last Saturday 1J68 0733 Carlisle to Middlesbrough was formed of 158843, arriving in Platform 2 at 10:14, then 156496 + 156463 arrived from Whitby at 10:16 (2 minutes early), before turning around and forming 2E11 1021 Middlesbrough to Whitby, then 158843 departs on 5J59 1023 Middlesbrough to Middlesbrough to move over to platform 1 to form 1J59 1036 Middlesbrough to Carlisle

No, it's not the same unit. The arrival from Whitby is also planned to use platform 2 and arrives at 1018 for a very tight turnaround prior to the 1021 departure.

The reason (at least in part) being to keep the 4-car formation on the branch for daytrippers then and the schools traffic later.
