Newark Northgate to Castle - tight dash

I find myself with a very tight dash to get one of my photographic targets today; 12 minutes from Northgate to Castle.

Is there anywhere closer to Northgate that gives me a vantage point of the line through Castle?

Failing that, is the flat crossing close enough to Northgate that I could just snap my target from there? My maximum zoom is 140mm

You may have checked this already, but Googlemaps suggests that the rail bridge over the Trent lock cut just west of the crossing is a couple of minutes closer than Castle. 16min on foot along the towpath.
No local knowledge, other than that on the ECML it feels some way from Northgate - out of zoom distance.

Thank you, I feared it might be too far for my zoom limit.

I'm not sure running along a tow path might be my safest bet...

The crossing is too far away from Newark Northgate station for zoom lens.

To add to the fun, the one I need to snap just before getting the train to Newark is currently 9 late...

Edited: The issue has solved itself; RTT shows the 15.16 has had a unit swap to a dud one so I'm now on the 14.59 to Newark instead of the 15.18.

Further edit... 16.21 showing as cancelled on the screens at Northgate, so I guess I can walk back for the 16.54 instead...

Final update: To my great surprise, the 16.21 ran - and I only just got there in time for it because I wasn't expecting it! The screens still said it was cancelled when it rolled in...
