This evening trying to travel back to Lincoln I was greeted by a member of staff telling me all trains to Lincoln had been cancelled due to a signal failure between Newark and Collingham. Travelling on this line quite regularly, I have noticed how frequently this occurs and I wondered if some of those in the know on this forum could give their ideas as to why. Is it simply the age of the equipment, repeated theft of cable or something else? I'll be interested to hear what you all think. Thanks in advance

At the moment it's cable theft, twice in a week. The signalling between Newark and Lincoln is however also life expired and technical problems are common. Renewal has been pushed back for cost cutting and so you see things like partly collapsed wooden location cupboards covered in plastic bags in an attempt to preserve them.
