Newark - Collingham Delays 11/11/23

Currently on 2T67 which is crawling along towards Collingham. Any ideas what's the problem? Thanks in advance

Just currently showing as running late due to a late running train being infront of it, but there’s nothing currently infront of it, nor anything obvious delaying its previous journey (2T68).

Makes sense as the service in the opposite direction from Lincoln to London is being delayed between Collingham and Newark.

Massive fire on an industrial estate at Newark Northgate yesterday afternoon at 15:00 so may be something to do with the delays.

Track circuit failure between Newark East Junction and Collingham station. 2T67 was the first train affected so had to examine the line and certainly took his time doing so.

The signalling system between Newark and Lincoln on the former Midland Railway route is life expired and track circuit and level crossing failures are very common. It's meant to be resignalled soon but seems to be on hold at the moment.

The signalling system in place dates from I believe 1967 so is pretty ancient for power signalling.
