As someone who grew up in Brierley Bonk (as the locals "affectionately" refer to it), I've been waiting for a metro line to the town since I was in short trousers. Appreciate it's further down the line than ever, though!

As someone no longer in short trousers who enjoys the occasional handpulled beverage, the Bathams is always a destination when I make my way home (not far from the site of Brettell Lane station, as it goes) - the rest of the Delph Run is given a wide berth.

I used Wolverhampton extensively on the way to university in the north west - depending on the day the old 256 from Amblecote to Wolverhampton bus station was occasionally quicker than the train via Stourbridge and Smethwick GB - in those days there were only the half hourly locals which were prone to being delayed behind the train I wanted. It was always an appalling place - now it looks rather like the residents of the Custard Bowl have tacked on a conservatory

How could new platforms genuinely help Wolverhampton station? The biggest dweller was the Euston, which now of course, goes on to Scotland.

The Shrewsbury services which used to terminate all now run to Birmingham/Int too. So less seems to terminate overall.

But Walsall might be returning, and Shrewsbury services are mentioned as going up in frequency - my understanding was that the corridor to New Street was full - so perhaps those two will be linked across Wolves, who knows.

The Walsall trains will be returning and indeed will be running through to Aldridge eventually.
When plat 4 was constructed at W-ton passive provision was made to create a bay platform behind, squeezed in at the south end for any rejuvenated Walsall services so as to limit the track occupation. Downside to that is the old Powerbox would have to be demolished to provide access, it would be a shame to see it go.
