New transport secretary

If there are only to be five Lib Dems in the Cabinet, then it looks like we may have a Conservative transport secretary as five Lib Dem Cabinet members have already been announced (unless five is just a minimum).

I was hoping it would be Chris Grayling, although I understand he's been given a junior post.

Frankly, this whole election has been a shambles. The Conservatives should never have been allowed to be elected into power. The secret pact that Thatcher made to her Tory backbenchers, Labour and the Liberal Democrats back in the eighties has ensured, as it was meant to, that a Tory transport secretary would be elected into power after Labour failed to deliver on its failed promise to renationalise the railways. If one Labour transport minister fails to deliver renationalisation, another steps in and makes the same veiled promises, whilst at the same time, ensuring that our railways remain severely safety-compromised.
They should abolish the coalition immediately, dissolve Parliament, rerun the election, and ensure we do not get a minister who made the Thatcher pact which destroyed British Rail.

Stephen Hammond was the shadow railways minister, and a very good person too, whom I have met in the past. As I posted above, Philip Hammond is definately the new transport secretary though.

Wasn't there an incident under Blair where he called someone up accidentally to ask them to join the cabinet because he got his names muddled?

Runnymede and Weybridge since 1997.

I heard that after Avatar, David Cameron gave up his promising film directing career so he could run the country along with his long lost twin Nick, who was born Cameron Stout but changed his name following his win in Big Brother 4

The only trouble is that RailPro is notoriously biased towards the Tories, hence why that article does not even attempt to entertain the posssibility that it was in fact Thatcher convening with Major over the pact to ensure that privatisation was passed through law as quickly as possible. Getting back on topic, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the New Transport Minister, and the plans that the Government has for Rail.

Contrary to the twoddle and lies peddled by Labour, there is NO secret policy to close the Railways or pull money from them. There are however plans to look at how the money (public) is invested and used with a view to seeing if value is being gained.

There is a belief that considerable savings can be made simply by cutting out inefficiencies (NOT cutting services). I agree with that view having seen first hand how much is wasted.
