I am looking to travel from Blackpool north to Weymouth Mon 21 March, returning Fri 25th. The off peak return fare, via Bristol is £160.30 but it is not showing this, nor is it showing, via London options though the 0754 London via Birmingham is an off peak service and even if a split was needed in London this is not being offered?, info would be appreciated, thanks.

Cheapest fare offered £317.27

Could it be to Avanti or Cross-country being 'sold out' in standard class?

I'm guessing you mean on Mon 21st March?

Could depend on the times you need.

For me - just taking a quick look returning midday Friday, it's finding the £160.30 Not London fare via Bristol ( if I specify via Bristol, otherwise via Southampton ); with splits turned on it finds cheaper splits as expected.

Just checked my requests, I asked for 7am departure in both directions, trainsplit offers nothing reasonable, Avanti offers a departure at 10.28 via Bristol departing at 10.28 for £160.30.

While I am aware that I am asking about peak times I was looking for the earliest available journeys and I would have expected trainsplit to get that, many people using it will be price rather than time sensitive.

If I ask Trainsplit to take me via Bristol it can then find a price of £134.35 but I would not expect to need to do that.

Just tried the old Trainsplit site, that comes up with £154.69 travelling via Manchester in both directions, totally different journey form anything I have seen elsewhere. Identical search criteria entered on all three searches.

Avanti west coast offer me a seat on the 0754 off peak London via Birmingham service so seat availability not a problem.

Trainsplit has generally had problems with through journeys to the Southeast. I sometimes use it but split the journey manually in London as well. I don't travel to Weymouth but it wouldn't surprise me if that's the issue here as well.

[Apologies. I thought you were travelling from Weymouth but this still might produce something.] I'm no expert on Trainsplit but I have some familiarity with your planned journey. Using your departure times, if you do Weymouth to Basingstoke return (change Winchester outbound, direct return) Trainsplit shows £39.78. Then Basingstoke - Blackpool North return (change Birmingham International outbound, various on return journey) is £99.04 - total £138.82. Or Weymouth - Blackpool North (restrict it to via Basingstoke and Banbury, not London) it is £142.88 but with a more restricted choice of trains.

Thanks for this, I managed to find a fare of £134.35 on new trainsplit, but only if I specify via Bristol, to me that is a failure of the website, just to update where I ended up.

all searches 0700 departure, Blackpool north/Weymouth March 21 return March 25th.

Newtrainsplit £317.27 or £134.35 if via Bristol specified, but how am I supposed to know to do that.
Trainsplit, £154.69, not sure why this does not find the £134.35 fare?
Avanti £160.30 off peak return,

It would be nice if someone involved with Trainsplit could offer an explanation.
