Just found out I got a border line pass on my second attempt at my first stage of the trainee driver assessment having failed at the interview last time. However, the OPC have just informed me that in October the new trainee driver assessment comes in and I won't get another chance to take it again, even though I've had 1 fail and 1 pass. I distinctly remember the woman at the stage 1 assessment saying that when the new test comes in everyone will get a a clean sheet (another 2 chances). Seems a little unfair.

might be a misunderstanding. rules are take any part of assessment, you are unable to attend another assessment until 6 months have elapsed. fail an assessment counts as 1 of your 2 lives and unable to attend assessment within 6 months. a borderline pass is not a fail. I read the article regarding the new assessment and the slate is wiped clean and you get 2 chances again however you will not be able to take the new assessment until 6 months have passed.

Due to the way Southern do their recruitment you sit the DM interview (not part of the national assessment) before the CBI (part of the national assessment) In my situation I have passed the assessment (GB/Reactions etc) and sat the DM a couple of weeks ago and have still not heard anything despite chasing HR a couple of times. Now if I haven't passed the DM I won't get the opportunity to sit the CBI. Where does that leave me? As, through no fault of my own, I have not sat the CBI does this mean I can't sit another assessment for 6 months? If so this seems grossly unfair.

With the harder tests coming in soon, it is recommended that anyone without a psycho test pass under the old tests to get one as soon as possible, even if it means paying for it.
