I was told by a member of the staff at Exeter St David's today that they had seen plans in an internal staff magazine showing a major new £70million train maintenance facility to be built on the site of the present Exeter depot next to Exeter St David's station. Anyone heard any more about this plan?

It seems to be an extension to the current DMU depot there.

In the linked news release they say
'
The maintenance depot is on a prominent site adjacent to Exeter St Davids Station. Design of the new building will need to be carefully considered to reflect the site context and the proximity of the new building to the Isambard Kingdom Brunel designed station.'
That's news to me. I thought it was quite modern, (well, 1930s).

Come on, HowardGWR, don't you know that 'all' Great Western railway features were designed by Brunel (even if he designed them 100 or more years before they were built), just like 'all' closures are Beeching's? 
Well, the original station was an IKB design and at least some of that still exists.
