Hi everyone I'm new here and new to the hobby but interested in the hobby and I'm wondering if there are any good sites for information on the basics and if there is anyone willing to take me under there wing to learn the hobby more in depth. Thank you all.

I'm not sure what you are referring to; railway photography? exploring the country by train? travelling behind particular trains (aka "bashing")? railway modelling? Something else? Once we know what you are interested in, we can point you in the right direction.

If it's train spotting you are after, there are other sites that are more suited to that and you're probably best over on a site such as WNXX.
