Good evening all

Im just after some advice?
Im looking at taking a trip upto teeside airport to visit the station before it is Refurbished or just closed which ever Northern decide.

Im aware no services have called here for a while but Is the station still accessible ?

I only ask as I like to get a station sign selfie to save in my collection ,

Also any advice on Redcar British steel station or is that a complete NO GO

Thanks again and please advise me if this has been posted in the wrong place,

Redcar British Steel is sealed off as part of the redevelopment; there is no public access to the site.

Is Teesside Airport station still partly accessible albeit only on the platform 1 side (i.e. heading towards Darlington)?
(The footbridge over the line being barricaded off).

Be useful if someone local could confirm to avoid a wasted journey / long walk.

Google street view suggests that there is no roadside access to Tees Side Airport station, only from inside the airport boundary..

When I passed on Monday it looked like the area outside the station at Teesside Airport was all dug up with a safety fence so you might not even get access to the platform.

I visited in June 2022 (see my trip report here) and it was possible to get to the station then but as indicated by @Kite159 it's possible the situation may have changed since then.

No chance at all. Even when the station was open it was inside the secure part of the site so the only way to gain access was by train. You were permitted on the station platforms and that was it. I believe some people did occasionally get met by security (certainly when I did it a security van parked up in line of sight to keep an eye on me between trains) and driven to the site exit. Others I believe hoofed it straight to the exit from the station (it's only a ten minute walk or so) and got away with it. But you were never permitted to enter the site to access the station.

The site is not inside the airport boundary but yes there's no roadside access you have to come off the main road and enter the airport industrial park to reach it.

Though going off the beaten track at any airport is likely to get security interested.
Indeed I was tailed by a pair of friendly police officers when I walked out to the airport station. When they caught up to me they seemed bemused by what I was up to but perfectly friendly and went on their way without any drama.

True, but the OP wants a selfie with the station sign - that's the difficult bit.
Assuming that they've not dug up the access road to the station and the OP is happy climbing a wood post style fence they'll be able to achieve their goal without much difficulty. I would have done it myself when I visited in June 2022 but with the police having not long left I thought it best not to!

How fast does the train pass through the station?

Would it be feasible to attempt the picture with the train window between the sign and the person...?

Not sure exactly what line speed is exactly but its going to be far to fast to manage that. 70 odd I suspect?

https://www.openrailwaymap.org/ has the speed limit at 60mph passing the station, there's a 30mph curve 2km to the west, but I don't know how much that'd impact speed through the station.
Aha thank you, I wasn't a million miles away. That speed restriction does impact very much, certainly not enough for someone take to a legible photo through the window of the station sign!

I'd agree - if I was trying it that way, I'd want 20 mph or less...

A shame I didn’t see this earlier - unfortunately that’s been the case for a few weeks as I understand.
