Hahah, well put it this way; they'd probably remember me! So if they are, they'll be keeping to the shadows...

The example Jake posted doesn't look very clear or professional
Personally I cant see whats wrong with the present layout- it shows everything that's needed and is clear to read.

@starmill: interesting range of "results" - thanks for posting these. Did you have an Advance ticket? - I recently saw one for the first time (for the first couple of months they were printed in the standard layout, if I remember rightly). I haven't heard any reports of trials from other types of TVM or other TOCs' TVMs yet, but am keeping a careful eye out.

I have just booked some Advance tickets for a couple of journeys away in August and went out of my way to collect them from a Parkeon machine at one of the stations listed as doing the new designs.... and it printed the whole lot out in the traditional layout - much to my annoyance.

That has happened to a few of mine too, kwvr45. I've had more success at the machines that the trial was aimed at.

I think Hebden Bridge was one of the trial ones! And I know that Advance tickets are now appearing in the new format as I have seen quite a lot of them at work!

Yeah, it was. So was Glossop - and it gave me traditional format advances when I ToDd there too. I've had solid success at Bingley and Mauldeth Road. I guess it's luck of the draw a bit!

@Hassocks, yeah I had Advance Exeter St D - London Terminals and London Terminals - Mauldeth Road plus an Off-Peak Day Return from Paignton to Barnstaple.

Weird. And why hasn't the text been moved up and down as needed? Surely the orange band never ever moves. In printing you have the safe area, bleed etc.

As a matter of interest one of the Advance tickets I collected via TOD has the EC small group discount applied. The discount code text of SMGPW is so massive it prints over the top of the date in the middle of the ticket!

Love that the new ticket has a web link to the restriction code

nationalrail.co.uk/B1

One of my first posts on this forum was about the almost impossibility of finding out when your ticket was valid if plans changed after you'd made your purchase.

Great stuff.

At least you could get it to work. Many people have to try quite a few times to get the Northern TVMs to issue TOD tickets and some give up and go and ask the ticket office to do it.

I tried to collect from the one at Rochdale with Crossover the other day, neither of our cards would work and we tried for a good 5 minutes of putting them in and being told they couldn't be read. Fortunately we did get another opportunity to collect somewhere else later.

From what I've heard, "newfangled" seems to be the most common term for them.

I've heard 'fake', 'receipt' and 'ridiculous' too.

Is there any pictures of the Advance tickets in the new format :) ?

I saw one today and thought about taking a picture as the text for the second leg reservation was out of alignment and partially printed over the top of whatever was below it.

I've seen a couple of these, and from a ticket-checking point of view I really don't like them. In comparison to the current (old?) style where the key things you are looking for stand out and can be easily checked, these need to be 'read' to find the appropriate bits.

Southern's prosecutions department are still insisting that these tickets are fake, and are attempting to extract a 4-figure sum from a forum member to settle an allegation of making a fake ticket design.

Most TOCs have high-up managers who read this forum, but I guess that isn't the case at Southern any more, and it's also a shame they don't read their briefings and notices from ATOC.

I've not had any problems using them. Has anyone else? (other than early on staff mistaking them for receipts)

Is a separate thread on that? That is outrageous.

I'm so happy Govia are going to be running things on my line in under two weeks...

If they did want to use a fake ticket, surely they'd want it to fit in as much as possible with the existing design? :?
