New Thameslink depots unveiled

network rail have announced where the new thameslink depots will be three bridges and hornsey, sounds about right one on the GN one on TL. the one south of three bridges will obviously be the non used up yard, not to sure about hornsey.

I see the BCC is keeping its standards up by shortening TLP length by a year. And kinda misses a big point of TLP, to create new jounery oppertunies.

Not that I can rely on the rags comments (after all it thinks Network Rail is the "The UK's national train operator", quite a few people would he happy to to see that happen) but are these buildings really going to be finished by 2012? Or is it a case of Three Bridges finished by them for testing and comission of the new fleet to reduce pressure on Hornsey during the works there as surely both aren't needed till the new fleet arrives in 2013-2015.

i would think three bridges will be done first commissioning and testing, and hornsey later. are they still going to keep cauldwell walk open i would think they would need somewhere up bedford way, even if it were for small jobs/stableing/night exams, also heard work will start soon on extra stableing roads able to hold 12 cars at bedford cs, these will go where the wash plant is at the moment.

Before anyone forgets, NR were doing some work on the old Up Hornsey Carriage Sidings a couple of months ago which is already electrified to 25kV AC and which the FCC Head of Stations said in a Thameslink briefing at Finsbury Park a couple of months ago that it would eventually become a extended part of Hornsey depot.

It's already got the connections more or less in place, shouldn't take much to bring it back in use and have the old signalling cabin in the yard control all movements in the entire depot rather then two seperate cabins at the north and south ends of Hornsey as it is at the moment.
