Here are mmy top three of lines that I would like to see reopened which have not been mentioned in this thread and the reasons why--
1. Uckfield- Lewes
Closed in 1969 to permit a road to be built at Lewes. Severed a link between London and the Coast. Uckfield- London has seen a huge rise in passenger numbers over the past few years. Expanding towns at Uckfield, Crowborough, etc. Will ease road congestion
2. (Oxford) Bicester- Bletchley(Milton Keynes)
Will provide a good cross-country link line to serve rapidly expanding Milton Keynes, Bletchley, etc.
3. Portishead- Bristol
Severe road congestion in the Bristol area particularly peak hours.
