Ilkeston in Derbyshire is scheduled to open at the end of the year.
Thanks for that, very interesting although it has to be said logical as it does form part of the main transport corridor through West Yorkshire.Oddly enough yes. York is one of a number of North Yorkshire council areas which form part of the Leeds City Region. Whilst North Yorkshire County Council control transport for the rest of North Yorkshire, York being a unitary authority is participating in the West Yorkshire fund. York is also an observer member of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (I think it'd probably be a full member if it wasn't for the requirement for CAs to be geographically contiguous).

It (James Cook Hospital Station) is supposed to open around the timetable change in May, but whoever is contracted to build it is running behind.
Hythe, Hampshire (although this held up at present due to lack of capacity due to freight)
Chineham (Basingstoke) Hampshire (although this can not be built until electrification of the line between Basingstoke and Reading)
This comes under the completely aspirational category but i would be a huge advocate for a station at the side of the A6 parallel to the Lancaster University campus.
Several reasons:
-As reported on this forum in the run up to christmas demand for trains from lancaster (and other WCML stations) towards manchester for the christmas markets is huge, the university creates a lot of the demand for this found at Lancaster.
-Anyone who watched the recent tv series All Aboard East Cost Trains and saw the termly weekend chaos when students return home for the holidays at Durham knows that universities create huge rail demand with very few students driving. Lancaster university is not too dissimilar in size to Durham's main campus.
-There are currently freight loops on the site i'd propose for it so adding platforms to the loop could be simulatenously be used as an excuse to extrend them as i believe they're currently too short to accomodate much of the WCML traffic. Personally, i've only ever seen the Chirk logs, engineering trains and i once witnessed a short consist of maybe 12-14 tanks.
-The TPE Barrow and windermere trains could provide a more than adequate daily service and the Northern Furness peninsula to preston trains. These could be suplemented by the odd scotland and london bound train on a weekend due to popular demand from the international students (especially to london and edinburgh).
-If trams were ever to come to Lancaster (as the traffic situation will only get worse from its current horrific state) this would provide a good interface with the heavy and light rail at the bottom of the university's main drive as i doubt trams in the city centre would venture up to the main station.
Really? What would stop it being built before electrification? (Genuine question).
This is not an attempt to rile you but it was 25 years ago (1989). They have been celebrating that anniversary this year. To me 1994, was rail privatisation year and if this forum had be in existence then I would expect any discussion to be with regards to what could be cut as a result of rail privatisation. However, I would still expect there to be a very healthy discussion on additional rail stations with the Robin Hood Line being a big driver of rail station reopenings throughout the mid nineties.

Well, since you asked! I have a log of the stations since 1999 (whilst I would desire a full list, I've not had the time to develop and verify that yet). However, this includes both openings and reopenings. There is no real trend here although numbers were low in the early noughties. They are also going to be low in the early part of this decade too with it likely that some of the 2014 planned reopenings being pushed into 2015. 2015 is going to be a big year with Waverley kicking in. It might even match 2008.

Looking on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Railway_stations_opened_in_1989 etc) I can spot:
...Suddenly 2008 doesn't look so impressive!
Are those figures net - how many were closed in the same period? (Honest question). Another few stations that have been proposed in Tayside:
- Errol (reopening) and Dundee West (new/relocation) as part of strengthening services between Arbroath and Perth (for Glasgow/Inverness).
- Bridge of Earn, for Perth/Edinburgh services.
I think that they need the better acceleration of EMUs to maintain the end-to-end timings as there are fairly tight turnrounds at both Basingstoke and Reading. With DMUs the extra station, and therefore journey time, would mean putting an extra unit into the cycle. The cost of this blows the business case for the station.
A new railway station could be built near the Madjeski Stadium in Reading.
The area around Green Park, which also has a large business park, is notorious for its long traffic queues, particularly on match days.
Plans for Green Park Station were put on hold two years ago, but the council now wants work on it to start within three years.
Reading Borough Council is set to re-submit planning proposals for the stop next year.
The stop, by junction 11 of the M4 on the Reading to Basingstoke line, is expected to cost up to £8m to build.
The plans were pulled two years ago when a key developer dropped out.
Simon Beasley, network manager at the council, said: "I think it will make a real difference, a positive difference.
"Clearly we don't know how it will be serviced by trains but if there's anybody who can divert from the roads to the railways, then of course that's going to be positive."

There is also Water Eaton Parkway on the line between Oxford and Bicester as part of the Chiltern Evergreen 3 project - the line is currently closed for the upgrade and the station is due to open in 2015 sometime.
And also see http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=97154 for some info on Saltford nr Bath Spa
There's also Winslow that will open with East-West Rail in 2017.
Pretty sure Lea Bridge (between Tottenham Hale and Stratford) has been approved. Clearing of vegetation and stuff may have started but I'm not sure.
My bold.
Imagine if somebody purchased a fare from Winslow to Wilmslow. The on-board/gateline staff would need to do a double take of viewing the origin and destination.
In peace

Depending on what and where you read, any time between 2015 and 2019.Beaulieu Park won't open next year, or indeed any year soon. Still just on the drawing board. If I recall correctly it was originally planned to open around 2004, so 10 years later it is no nearer construction.
Soham station has been rumbling on for a while about being reopened, not sure what the latest is on that, been a year since I heard anything
I'd add York, Haxby to the list - its on City of York Council's top priority transport list, planning application is underway, and its likely to be funded from the West Yorkshire infrastructure fund.
Because the Leeds City Region includes the Councils of York & HarrogateHow does the West Yorkshire infrastructure fund manage to stretch out its remit as far to the east as Haxby ?

Yes I also heard that Winslow is proposed for re-opening in 2017 by Chiltern Railways, also a new Oxford Station north of the current one (I forget its title), for a Business Park, Shopping Mall and new housing there I think, It might be called Oxford Enterprise Park ? or something like that
The proposed new station at Oxford is to be called Water Eaton Parkway'
When is this due to open?
Whenever I've got out of the staff car park to look at it there seems to be a lot left to do and a hive on inactivity. As in no one there at all.
