From the "Stirling Observer"

Proposals for a lineside development on the railway at Braehead are being considered by Network Rail

Early talks have taken place about creating a railway stabling yard - for storage and cleaning trains - at the disused junction for the Polmaise line, just a short distance from the residential area. Although the plans are at an early stage, the Observer understands that the yard would hold up to nine trains at a time and could operate overnight

The Observer has also learned that the proposals would see the footprint of the yard stretching from Abbot Road to Targe Wynd.

The proposals form part of a wider raft of measures costing up to £1.05Bn to improve rail services in Central Scotland, which also include the electrification of the line to Dunblane. The Scottish Government/Transport Scotland is the client and Network Rail is funding the proposals.

Network Rail has already held talks with affected councils over the matter during December, although we have been told that no-one from Stirling Council attended.

Apologies for typos...
