Yesterday 20/11, some early morning stopper services ran on the fasts between New Southgate and Welwyn Garden City. The first booked service from Kings X failed to do the move (I was on it), but the second (and last) did. I went from New Southgate (P3) to Oakleigh Park (P3) on 2V04, and returned from Oakleigh Park (P2) to New Southgate (P1) via the x/o @ New Southgate on 2V09. Luckily the rain stopped just beforehand!
Looking at the setup at New Southgate, I was wondering when P2 last saw any use? It would take a unique set of circumstances for trains to call there and there is no starting signal; although it does have new departure screens which showed those trains above as stopping on P2 before they got switched to P1. Of note, Hadley Wood did not receive service- maybe due to access via a locked door or because it's an island platform with the fasts on both sides.
Anyone know the reason why these services ran this way, as I could see no possessions on traksy?
Edit:
2V04 from Moorgate to Welwyn Garden City on 20/11/2022
2V09 from Welwyn Garden City to Moorgate on 20/11/2022
