New signal Post at Middleton Top!

Enjoyed a walk between Middleton Top and Highcliff over the High Peak Trail yesterday. I noted they had built a new signal post at the top of the incline. However, I quickly noticed a serious error! They appear to have erected the signal the wrong way round! The signal is for wagons ready to descend the incline.

The signal was facing the other way in 2012, and was replaced by some time in 2015, judging by photos on the 'Geograph' website (see http://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/SK2755 ).
Looking at my copy of "The Cromford and High Peak Railway" (by A Rimmer, Oakwood Press, 1998) the original signal is shown in several photos as being just a few yards further down the incline just before a catch-point - and facing towards the top of the incline. But according to the book, the signals soon went out of use. It is also the wrong sort - even in 1955 it was a lower quadrant signal, not the current LMS/BR(M) upper quadrent arm. Shame they didn't make a replica of the proper type!
