Various people have obliquely referred to a new incarnation of the routeing guide, implying that there will be some kind of fundemental change to the way it works. Is anyone able to say a bit more about what this will entail?

Thanks in advance to those of you "in the know."

I've heard numerous rumours such as:

- There will be an individual map from every station to every station (produced by Basemaps); and
- The shortest route rule may be abolished (<()

Perhaps an FOI request to the DfT may get some answers?

The DfT would have to approve any changes to the Routeing Guide so it could be worth asking them some questions about what they have approved so far, what they have been asked to approve, what changes are being considered and whether or not there will be any permitted routes removed (either due to changes in mapped routes or the shortest route rule) and if so, full details of the proposed changes.

Passenger Focus also have to be consulted, so an FOI request to them may get some info.

I hope this won't adversely affect the entertainment provided by RJ! I love reading about his escapades, and salute his efforts!

Thanks!

Only a few of my "arrangements" take into account anomalies created by the NRG or shortest route rules so still plenty of scope for use of creative ticketing!
