AIUI, new hudds platforms 2,3,4,5 will be through platforms with very frequent service. Platform 1 is for penistone and 6 for terminators from east - Bradford and Wakefield. Whilst that is enough for current terminator provision, would an additional terminator platform be a wise move, particularly as Huddersfield might be seen as a modest hub station for Bradford / Halifax?

Difficult to see where there would be space to put another terminating platform of a decent length.

There isn't enough railway land for two terminating platforms. In an ideal world there'd be two terminators but one of the through platforms can be used. Also, Wakefield services were due to be an extension of the TPE stoppers in May 20 so can run as a through service once they get the green light to eventually begin - caveat, not sure what's happening with Northern as they've seemingly abandoned that service (wrongly). That only leaves 2 stoppers terminating from the east an hour which makes one terminating platform work.

Most TPE services will be using platforms 2 and 3 (formerly 1 and 4) as the new lines will be on the south side of the station, and the run out east to Springhead is straight (ish). New platforms 4 and 5 can be used for through stoppers or to turn terminators around, as happens now on the current P4.
