I take my hat of to you and anyone else who can paint like that. I can scratch build models to a decent standard, but the clarity and perspective in paintings like that are beyond anything I can do, so I could probably never draw or paint like that.

Lovely and how I envy such skill
David Shepherd came in for a lot of stick from the art snobs for including too much detail so that the resulting painting looked like a photograph. His rendition of a BOAC hanger including every girder in particular. My goodness though he has had the last laugh, in terms of fiscal rewards and credability by those who are not up themselves art-wise.
I adore his work, particularly his lesser known landscapes prior to The Last Bales.
Is the term to describe such paintings 'Representational Art'?

Superb in respect of the detail of bury south clutter, however I may upset in that your greens are wrong to me, plus I would have chosen a photograph were the cylinder drain cox did not cover so much of the locos in steam.

Thats just a personal preference, however as I could not produce anything like that ever, I have to commend you for the detail , however my minitor could be off

Firstly I thank you hughesfowler for taking the time to look at my paintings. You must remember the greens may look different to the original painting as what you are looking at is a photo of my painting, on top of that monitors can display things very different indeed. I also spent along time on this painting looking and comparing the greens from different reference sources and therefor Im very confident they are correct.

With reference to steam covering to much of the locos, I personal feel this is what makes this painting! Like you say this is personal preference and if I could please everyone with every painting I did then I would be a millionaire

At the end of the day I want to produce railway paintings which are not the norm to help me stand out from all the other railway artists.
