New Pacer Preservation Society Website

The Pacer Preservation Society has just launched its new look website: www.pacerpreservationsociety.co.uk which has the benefits of easier membership application, more bulletins and news items, and a simpler, more effective design.

The PPS held its main meeting at the end of January and a new Chairman, Phil Rogers, has taken over the helm. Nice website good luck the job in hand. For me there likeability has grown over the years (as is the case with most trains i suppose) & they certainly do not need to end up on a predictable car show with 3 predicatable males blowing things to pieces lol

Just had a peek at your Blackpool Tram site, looks good too. Not been up for a couple of years but i do miss the Trams! Have some of the old fleet been saved for future running?

40, 66, 147, 600, 706, 717, 'Western Train' 733+734, 'Frigate' 736 and 'Trawler' 737 have been saved from what I've heard.

Dude, 142s on the short-length jointed rail back in the 90s - I buzzed off that! Happy memories from my childhood was riding from Blackpool South to St. Annes-On-The-Sea to visit my relatives during our family holidays to the Lancashire resort! Now I live up here! Funny old world...

Ah mate, quality moments! as a kid myself i was taken to pool every year, thankfully our hotel was always south shore so a pacer run it was! (certainly topped the dreary 150 run from Derby to Crewe) On the 142's, looking down the carriage i always thought the 2 cars would part company during the journey!

Anyways here's looking forward to the ELR gala next Sat/Sun another 5 years or so & i can see a 142/3/4 running there! ps sorry again pacer pete hijacking this thread - wrist slapped lol

Good luck to the group, they deserve to succeed as much as all of the others. Would be good to see the pioneers of each class preserved in some form. Love them or hate them, the pacers have served the principal Northern conurbations (and those where they have operated in the Western region) well over the past three decades, and this is worthy of recognition.
