Removing Travelcards/Oyster caps for Zone 2 to X travel though? Surely this removes the incentive to avoid travelling via Zone 1 if possible?

If you're going to cap during the day anyway then there's no longer the incentive to avoid zone 1. But for single fares it remains cheaper to avoid zone 1 so the incentive is still there if you're just doing a single or return.

Not sure about the peak cap(s), but the £1 off-peak cap is raised to £1.30. On the plus side, the 65p maximum off-peak single for zips is extended from TfL rail to all NR as well.

Well, 2-6 then, whatever.

Yes, the loss of the 2-6 price cap is a hammer blow to people wanting to do more than a straightforward return journey outside of zone 1. Worst hit are those from the outer two zones, 5 and 6 who will see their off-peak cap rise from £5.10 to £8.00. I really think they should have maintained the 2-6 cap, perhaps at just below the level of the 1-4 cap which would still provide an incentive to avoid the central area.

Does anyone know when the pink oyster readers at Surrey Quays will be switched on, i notice at the moment they are installed but currently covered in a canvas cover.

The sooner the better for me. There is a 2-3 minute connection between New Cross and West Croydon trains in both directions at Surrey Quays which is then missed if travel is extended to Canada Water. I'm expecting that they might come into service in January.

Out of interest, can you tell me where they are and how many there are? I assume it's on the footbridge somewhere. Are there signs nearby explaining that they are for interchange?

Ah, that's a shame. That's a normal yellow reader. The large sliding window/door can be opened when there are large football crowds. It's been there since the line reopened. I'd imagine it's been covered because people used it to touch out and then couldn't get through the gates into the ticket hall. It would be nice if it was converted to a pink reader, but I can't see it happening myself.

the pound increase on off peak cap is absolutely disgusting!!!!!!!! 6 30 was good value but 7 30 to travelm out top the city n bacl at weeken that really takes the mick
