New Overground line names progress?

Have/will the announcements on the London Underground be updated from just saying "the next stop is [station name] change for [underground line] and London Overground"?

Granada is still the name of the ITV region for NW England, with the local news being Granada Reports.

When will stickers be added to line diagrams at stations? Some of the Jubilee line ones still have "East London" on!

Sort of although on air it's just called ITV1. In the Midlands though I regularly hear people say "Central" and a few months ago I heard someone say "oh that on ATV" which is a name that hasn't been used for more than 40 years.

I believe the answer to both is “as and when funding become available.” So don’t hold your breath for it being very soon.

No, it was well before any firm plans were even being formulated for that. It was a mixture of management changes and rolling stock deployment.

I know it's 4 years away but it will be interesting to see if TfL complete all/most rebranding before the next Mayoral election. London has had a Conservative mayor before and will probably have one again in the future and it wouldn't surprise me if this was the kind of thing that a new mayor would quietly drop.

I doubt they’d drop it as the concept of having an identifier for each service group isn’t a bad thing in itself. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see the names get changed to remove the references to identity groups.

I doubt they'd spend more money on yet another rebrand. Heck, it looks like TfL don't even have enough money to finish this rebrand, looking at how many PIS displays, line status displays, signage still needs updating.

I wonder how many of the people who have been howling in protest at the cost of this rebranding would turn a blind eye to the cost of that rebranding, even though this one serves a useful functional purpose but that almost certainly wouldn't...

I wonder how many people will take notice of the new names regardless of what they might have called them before ?.

) and I noticed that on the Weaver line diagram at Turkey Street, the places that are meant to be black are instead, green. Does anyone know why?

If I Remember Correctly - Green is the most common version of colour blindness. Perhaps whoever is doing the colouring sees green as black so made a mistake !.

Also note the exchange station colour (Hackney Downs and Liverpool Street). I think it is normally black ?.

Or perhaps the colour choices for the tube lines are to be "improved".

The announcements on the 710s have now also been updated and are using the new line names (at least in the Weaver line, I can't speak for other lines but would assume this is also the case)

They have indeed all been updated, including interchange points. You can see a compilation here:

Note that on both announcement and screens they have changed 'Next Station X' to 'The next stop is X'

Also that the announcement for South Tottenham said to change for the Weaver line, Victoria line and National Rail services from Seven Sisters station, but on the Weaver Line it announces the Suffragette Line on arrival to Seven Sisters but doesn't state that this is from South Tottenham station.

The announcements with new names actually sound much smoother on the 710s than the 378s, to my surprise, considering how comparatively poor quality the announcements have always been on the Aventras.

Sorry if this has been covered before, but why do the Class 378s include the Liberty, Suffragette and Weaver line diagrams? This was of no use to me - there was not a Mildmay diagram in sight from the seat I was in!

They're in the units grouped with the Windrush and Lioness Lines.

The rest of the maps are on the opposite doors, every 378 has every Overground line diagram.

The point @announcements was trying to make I assume was that from half the seats there will be no Mildmay, Windrush or Lioness line diagram in view. These are the routes which the 378s actually operate…

And why the C stock only showed the Edgware Road - Wimbledon section of the District line on the maps whereas on D Stock this section was omitted on the maps.

Absolutely. It seems overkill to have every line shown on the stock.

The customers don't care about the LO mode per se, so those ought to be replaced with the all-encompassing multi-modal "Tube map" for better practical use!

Geographical maps would end up needing a lot of space. For someone from outside London - we use the maps to see where we need to change so for us they convey the information perfectly - change here to get here.

The 710s won't be used on the Windrush line due to the underground sections on the core section which require evacuation from the front of the unit.

Didn't the 378s used to have maps for all the routes before the renaming? So has anything really changed here
