New London Midland leaflet - Alternative routes

While I was at London Euston today I picked up a leaflet I hadn't seen before, titled Alternative Routes from London Euston. No doubt printed after the recent cable fire.

In theory the leaflet sounds a good idea. I live in Hemel Hempstead and the suggested route is Metropolitan line to Watford, walk to Watford town centre and then catch the Arriva 320 or 500 to Hemel Hempstead. It sounds OK off peak Monday to Saturday but peak times the harsh reality is it wouldn't work.

Other stations don't fair too well, especially Cheddington.

Why wouldn't it work? The 320 is still running at that time. Do you just mean the people would overcrowd the buses?

Yes, the buses wouldn't be able to cope with the volume of rail passengers, especially peak times along with normal passengers. Plus it takes forever and a day on the 320 between Watford and Hemel Hempstead.

Shame my scanner has broken, it'd of been nice to do a scan of the leaflet. :cry:

I'm just about to go through Euston, where abouts are the leaflets?

Sounds very similar to leaflets that GTR and before them FCC do, detailing tube and bus links, often linking across country from another line that would be open.

Sadly we don't anymore.. they're now just a copy of the poster that goes up at stations and available online only like most of our leaflets. Don't worry though if you need a copy staff station will be able print it for you

The leaflet is also available at Watford Junction and is currently on display until someone else thinks something else is more important and takes it down.

The information is also available online - but as this is a trial - I don't think this webpage has been publicised a lot.

Any alternative route like this is almost certain the be extremely crowded, and perhaps overwhelmed, during the peak hours, but I think it is helpful to provide information to passengers about the alternatives they could try if their normal route isn't available.
