The new Transport for Cornwall website seems to imply that they are at least working together with GWR

That sounds like an interesting development. Cornwall as an area is self- contained (with sea on three sides) so looks like an ideal "pilot' site.

Not in branding but I gather there are various pieces of work involving the railway to tie things together a bit better.

Improving Ride Cornwall (price, period, peak/off-peak) and through ticketing on certain corridors should I imagine be part of it.

32624 has a tap on tap off scanner fitted, first time I've seen one on a Kernow vehicle so not sure if any other Kernow buses has one fitted yet or only 32624 has currently

Tap on, tap off is being introduced soon. Don't know exactly when.

I know the machines have been rolled out already to TfC branded buses but I didn’t know tap on/tap off is being rolled on kernow buses too.

No date has been announced yet but all operators who are part of TfC will have it available, assuming Stagecoach will have to fit all theirs as well even with their small TfC network due to no buses being dedicated to Cornwall

Also, I must imagine that the card payments are processed separately between kernow and TfC so it would be if interesting to know if a daily cap would be on all buses or on individual companies.

The new announcements appeared in Cornwall earlier this week I think. The Exeter/Okehampton/Totnes ones went live around the time that the upgraded bus links started last year.

We already share revenue with interoperability (the title of this thread!) Of course it will be multi operator. It’s not imminent. Low Fares first. TOTO at a later date. This is just the fitment prior to system testing.

I worked a train to Totnes last night (2C69 1400 Cardiff-Penzance) and was pleasantly surprised to see around half a dozen boarding the Salcombe bus from the train, though not sure it was actually a booked connection as it was in and out pretty quick!

I have to say that £5 for a network day ticket is incredibly good value.

There's been big changes to how you use buses in Cornwall.
You can now use your bus ticket on any bus* across the county, no matter what colour it is, or who’s driving - it’s one, big joined up network. And now we’re bringing bus fares down too.

From the 10th April 2022 prices will be falling, with short hop fares down by 20% and longer journeys by up to 40%.
The £9 day ticket will reduce to just £5, and singles will start from just £1.60 and returns from £2.40. It’s time to make big savings by bus.

Hesitate to say more or post a link for fear of mods wrath. Kernow posted a few days ago that with so many staff off, services liable to disruption at short notice. I'm guessing TfC will be in a similar position.

Having looked at my App today a 5 ticket bundle of a whole network tickets costs £20, so equivalent to £4 per day and town networks all appear to be £10 for 5 so £2 each as opposed to £2.50 is bought individually

I’ve just returned from staying 10 days in Plymouth and using the £5 Cornwall bus day ticket on a number of these days. I did also 6 days use of an 8 Days in 15 Devon and Cornwall Rail Rover which I used to and from Tiverton Parkway on my journey to and from Plymouth from home.

I think the £5 bus ticket is fantastic and as a visitor, unless I was visiting a very remote location I don’t think I would ever consider driving down to Cornwall again. Even at £10 a day I would consider it good value considering the price of fuel and parking charges in Cornwall. It was great to be able to hop on and off any bus and visit a number of different locations each day. I liked the fact that once I had the mobile ticket on my phone the ticket machines on every bus were the same and accepted my ticket without me having to explain to the driver what it was.

To improve further I think there needs to be a little bit more co-ordination of timetables in a few areas. It is frustrating when buses on less frequent routes do not always connect with other services. However, on the whole I was amazed by the extensive network and relatively frequent services even into the evening and on Sundays. One further comment was on Sunday afternoon I was waiting for a train at Bodmin Parkway and the train from Paddington to Penzance was running about 10 minutes late and didn’t arrive until 1402. The number 10 bus to Padstow which should depart at 1400 didn’t wait and drove out of the car park just as the train was arriving. Not good when the bus only runs every 2 hours on Sunday.

To sum up I found it great to be able to use one ticket anywhere on buses in Cornwall at such a reasonable price. It made me very envious when I could travel from one end of Cornwall to the other for £5 when here in Nottinghamshire it costs me £5.40 return just to go to my local town 2 miles away!
