New Hull-Doncaster service by VTEC

I wonder if they would do the same with the Lincoln service - that runs all the way up to Neville Hill so could call at Doncaster, Wakefield and Leeds on the way. Depends how much demand there is for a late evening northerly departure.

I seem to remember they did during the Lincoln Christmas Fair at the beginning of December, so I suppose the precedent has been set.

I just noticed this thread (although I'm a long way from Hull).

This train doesn't appear in the VTEC pocket timetable, nor in Northern Rail leaflet no. 30. Was it a late decision to run it in service?

Possibally... It is on RTT as only running until February, so perhaps this is a test using staff and stock that otherwise would be not gaining money. After using it a few times now, my only concern is that it is untidy. Now, I know its come off a long service, but they could still whip through a couple of carriages with a bin bag or two.

From what I have seen, loadings do appear to be about 30-40 people

Would this train not be able to offer some kind of passenger service Doncaster-Leeds or does it go a different way round the houses back to Neville Hill?

Would it actually have any benefit?

Hull to Leeds is quicker with TPE.

This train then runs ECS on a tour of West Yorkshire and is probably a route refresher for train crew so you wouldn't want to be on this, it takes an hour.

It takes a circuitous route, and there are no shortage of quicker trains already in passenger service to Leeds via Wakefield Westgate.

I can confirm that (engineering work permitting) it runs M - F for the whole timetable.

For various reasons it didn't meet the normal timescales for inclusion in all literature...
