Dear all

I am looking at getting an HD camcorder for christmas and here's my criteria:

- Good filming quality in HD
- Good zoom, 15x optical zoom +
- Good battery life and reasonable memory
- Records to meomory or memory card

I am looking at the Sanyo Xacti TH1 at the moment but if anyone has any sensible ideas, please help me. I am looking at spending £200-300.

Purchased the Sony DCR-SR37E recently for my trip to Scotland in December,

Sony DCR-SR37E

Although its not HD, it has got a 60GB hard drive, and takes memory cards too, touch screen, and has 60x optical zoom. The standard battery has a life of just over an hour and a half, but there is another battery (NP-FH100) you can buy that lasts up to 11 hours!

£269.99 from Amazon which included a free spare battery and Sony carry case, plus £30 cashback, so a snip at £239.99.

Not had the chance to give it a real go yet but hoping to next week before I head off to Scotland!
