New GBRf Intermodel working...

...for anyone that maybe interested, GBRf have a 5th Intermodel train from the Port Of Felixstowe starting on Monday.

To start with, a Loco and 16 FEA's (Empty) will move from Peterborough down to Felixstowe at 0900 Monday morning running as 4L02...due to arrive Felixstowe North 1250.

Once there, it will have another 4 wagons attached and will depart at 1643 destined for Hams Hall via GEML, NLL, WCML and Nuneaton, booked to arrive at 0020 and running as 4M02.

Its return working (4L02- 22 wagons) departs Hams Hall at either 0440 or
*0345 (depending on route) back to Felixstowe booked to arrive 1250.

*Every four weeks it travels back via Sutton Park and Conventry hence the earlier departure time.

Over the weekend the set will be based at Parkstone Carriage Sidings running as 4A03 0948 Felixtowe - Parkstone CS (Saturday)..also double headed and 4R03 1115 Parkstone CS - Felixstowe.

Very interesting. Thanks. My friend and I are always looking for freight photo opportunities. I have suggested we go to felixstowe docks but he reckons we wouldnt be able to get anywhere near the trains to take photos. I guess you are a driver but do you know if there is anywhere that we could get photos from? We are hoping to go to Stratford station on Monday to look for freight. I really like some of your Stratford pictures on your fotopic site.

There is a pubic bridleway that crosses infront of the North Terminal, there is also a road that runs along side the terminal (public accessable) that you maybe able to take pics from.

If you look at the picture below you may just be able to see the bridleway (not the first crossing but the one just behind).

For Felixstowe freights, I'd recommend Trimley (better in the afternoon). You can walk to the docks from Trimley station; there used to be some good views en route (like this one); check trainspots for a map, there is a network of paths in the area which are well used by the local canine draggers. Westerfield is also worth stopping at.

It would be well worth checking the times of freight trains; although there are a lot of them, they seem to be very irregularly timed - three or four an hour then nothing for ages. Of course you can also phot the unit .

I've been down that way a few times now and not once had more than an hour or two of sunshine....

Thank you. I will try to get down there sometime soon but will also look out for the new GBRF you said will come down to Parkeston as we are near there quite a lot. I am disabled and cant walk much but I will drive to the road near the terminal at Felixstowe and look for somewher to stop.

Thanks Dennis. We were fairly lucky last time we were down that way. However it was a bit of a wait between trains and I did get pictures of the unit
