New Deal 1-6 TC

Originally on a one day (London zones 1-6) travelcard bought from a National Rail station with a New Deal photocard cost £2. However i was told that after 16th May 2009 it had gone up to £5.

Has this fare really doubled? and if so why.

As far as I can see within the FRPP (Staff Fares Manual), it states that New Deal Photocard holders are still entitled to Child Rate Travelcards for travel in London Zones 1-6 only and 50% off the Adult Rate Travelcard for travel starting outside London Zones 1-6.

Therefore a Zones 1-6 Travelcard would be £7.40 prior to 0930 and £2.00 after 0930.

I can find no reference to the £5.00 price you refer to, the only thing that springs to mind is that a member of rail staff became confused between the New Deal Photocard and the other Railcards on the market, all of which entitle the holder to only the £5.00 price for Off Peak Day Travelcards (the New Deal Photocard is unique in its offering of Child Rate Travelcards).
