seems the plan to use the edinburgh trams has fallen through , TFL have annouced new trams from stadler:

Hardly surprising given the decision to finish at least part of the Edinburgh Tram.

 

[Rational Plan]

I think they will still have quite a few trams spare as the line is nowhere near the length they originally imagined. I think they lost out as they only offered them on a five year lease. I think Edinburgh tram is optimistic if they think the rest of the line is going to be built in the next five years!

seem the 1st of these new trams could be in service this winter although modifications would have to be done to the stops on the network.
