New connection at Selby?

Have I missed something?
I'm sure that Hambleton Junction was South to West and North to East and not as shown on the attached map.

I'm guessing that's actually Temple Hirst Jn shown on the map, and not Hambleton Jn

new connection being added perhaps? Wonder if they do actually do that then I could see Templehirst to Selby closing as there arent any stations along there.

I agree, that's not Hambleton Jn (which isn't shown on that map as the ECML presumably isn't affected by those works, though I wouldn't know if it is affected, and someone's just posted the wrong map!). That Junction marked in red will be Sherburn Jn & Milford Jn, which DO have N-E and S-E chords onto the line to Selby & Hull.

On that map, the single straight line drawn between Doncaster & York is actually the western route via Knottingley & Chuch Fenton.

LATER ADDITION

On a later look at that map, I see that Knottingley station is shown, so the main York-Doncaster line must indeed be the ECML. So it does raise the question about why the South-East chord is shown (unless its a very stylised depiction of the Temple Hurst - Selby line?).

The "map" is, in fact a diagram and not an accurate geographic representation of the lines. Only passenger routes are shown and the red line into Selby is indeed the Temple Hirst to Selby line. The Doncaster / York line shown is the direct main line. The lines Doncaster via Askern and Church Fenton to York would not be shown as they do not normally carry passenger trains.

You will have notices that the Doncaster - Gilberdyke via Goole line is shown because this is the diversionary route for Hull Trains who terminate at Brough.
