New Class 66 EU

I haven't seen this mentioned elsewhere, so...

EMD have published pictures and details of the new Class 66EU which is a European version of the loco with a new (bigger) bodyshell to allow it to carry all the kit which will make the loco compliant with all the EU regulations on emissions etc.

it does look a blocky around the fornt, but it doesn't look that bad a design.

That's a different loco altogether.

Yep, the EU Class 66 is made by EMD, while Genesis is made by General Electric.

Well least we don't have to put up with it.
Or for that case aqny more GM locos let's just see how GE do with the new powerhaul/genesis project......

Not seen anyone mention it, but apart from the vastly over sized windscreen (which personally I cannot see making it through to production) isnt this loco just a European version of the Class 67 by GM and built in Spain?

It certainly has alot more similarities than the Class 66.

thats the first thing that went through my mind
maybe it is internally identical to a 66 but in the bodyshell derived from a 67

Not one of the best looking locos. There are much better looking ones in Europe already. I wonder just how many sales there will be for diesels, as most freight is hauled by electrics over there.
