If you had to design the equivalent of a new class B 25 - 27 BoBo for passenger use, what engine/ traction equipment and bogies would you use and who or where would you build it.

Luckily no one has to do that.

You could have asked an alternative question - if it were feasible to build an economic Type 2 engine what could we use it for?

For passenger work, there is absolutely no chance a Type 2 engine is going to be built. Exactly what benefits would it offer over a unit.

Something like the centre car of a 755 is probably a better bet than a separate Type 2 engine, especially as we no longer have run round facilities or the ability to shunt release.
