Has anyone seen the new colours for the Chiltern 67s yet, I undersatnd there has been a photo in one of the mags of the trailer.

I have got photos of the 3 sets that where working out of B'ham Moor Street last week.

Is the rumour correct that the 67's will be working to Stourbridge Junc later this year?????

I'm not aware of any 67s being repainted yet.

One DVT was done some time back.

I have been told that the locos will be silver/grey when get Chiltern branding. I haven't seen any design yet.

Word around the camp fire at the moment is that there may be evening peak services from Marylebone to Kidderminster worked by loco hauled stock. If they do diagram more locos onto Birmingham work then some of them will almost certainly have to be stabled at Stourbridge because Moor Street is full at the moment and I dont think the company want to leave them at Tyseley if at all possible. I'm not sure how much room there will be at Tyseley once all of these LM 172s have been delivered too. Am I right in thinking there are going to be more 172 coaches than there were 150s?
If a loco is stabled at Stourbridge overnight, dont be surprised to see an ECS movement to Birmingham in the morning. I cant see a loco hauled train running between Stourbridge and Birmingham in the morning peak, it would be far too slow and mess other trains timings up.

There was a 67 + short mk III rake at Stourbridge Junction overnight when I was there about a month ago.

I think you would have seen a Chiltern blue 67 by now if it hadn't been for the demise of WSMR which has changed the plans somewhat. As Cherry Picker said, the existing silver locos and mark 3s will be given Chiltern branding and some slight livery modification using vinyls. They did some trials on the coaching stock which I saw but I haven't seen the proposal for the locos.

They are fitting small generators into tge DVTs to provide power for thr cleaning/servicing overnight, so the locos don't need to be fired up during the night.

Otherwise, Cherry Picker is correct with his info

5S67 is the working Marylebone - SBJ (off yahoo groups).

The rumours I've heard is 1R47 (1830 arrival at BMO off Marybleone 67) is to be extended to SBJ (That being from a few folks at LM).

I wouldn't mind seeing the 67s on morning service to Marylebone off SBJ on M-S services personally.

Yes, it is the same train. Oh, and the following is all just speculation on my part:

I just cant see 67s running from Kiddy/Stourbridge in the morning peak. Those stations are incredibly busy before 9am and even the 'fast' services stop every three or four miles. The time lost at every platform because of the slam doors could cause so much delay to following trains running on already tight headways (there are, what 6 tph between SBJ and BSW?) that I simply cant see anybody risking it. Could one run just calling at Kiddy - Stourbridge - Birmingham? I have no idea, but I would be surprised if there was a path for a limited stop train in the morning peak.

Coming back to Stourbridge in the evening makes a lot of sense, it solves stabling problems that Moor Street would experience. This would mean an ECS movement in the morning out of Stourbridge depot though. Running directly from the carriage sidings to Snow Hill ECS would be significantly faster than going into the station I guess. It would be interesting to see the debate on whether to move that set from Stourbridge to Birmingham in service or empty though, I have no idea on the best way myself.

If Moor Street is already suffering from capacity issues, doesn't it raise questions as to why the 3rd bay platform wasn't brought back into use at the same time as the other two? :|

The platforms are operating well below capacity at the moment - the issues are with the two stabling sidings they put in at the same time. If push came to shove and they really needed the extra space I imagine they could just stable a third set in one of the platforms overnight.

It is a shame that cost prohibited the relaying of Platform 5 as the extra road would of been perfect for stabling.

The platforms are occupied overnight. That's the problem.

Plat 5 & 6 (if done) are for the planned camp hill chord services if that ever gets done. Recent RUS suggest the Nuneaton/Tamworth services that were
to use it will now run thro' New st.

Loco hauled to from Kiddy/Sbj would be possible for 1st Chiltern departures and late arrivals only due to timings as suggested. Once LM intense service starts & even during off peak services loco hauled would be a nightmare. LM can't even get paths for 172 training between Sbj & Bham, hence Leam & Snow Hill crew training being done on Nth Warwick with odd trip to Leam.
Worcester training between Sbj & Gloucs (as & when they decide to start Worcs crew training, latest delay due to work required on Worcs Depot & lack of serviceble units, latest pair due from Derby (337 & 341 rejected due to quality control issues i believe) are still there.

Nah, the platforms start filling up from about 23:00. The last shuttle from Leamington Spa and the last two arrivals from Marylebone occupy platforms 3 & 4 overnight.

That explains that, then!

Where were they stabling them all before the new platforms/sidings opened?

The idea is to send a 67 set to/from Kiddy from September time is what I last heard.

Any idea of the timings of that though? The only logical place to keep another 67 rake overnight is at Stourbridge, but the problem lies with what to do with it in the morning. You would have to run it as one of the very first departures out of Kidderminster so it doesn't interfere with the very high frequency local service between Stourbridge and Birmingham (does that start at about 7am?) because dwell times at the stations on that line will be a problem in my opinion.

Or start it further south of Kiddy where it is quieter...

I'm not sure what you mean by that? What/where is quieter? Worcester is south of Kidderminster (Snow Hill is the most northerly point of the Chiltern route, and trains between Kidderminster & London are heading north until they reach Birmingham where they turn to head south) so do you want trains to start there? Or do you mean start the train at Stourbridge? If so, what does that mean for Kidderminster? They lose one of their direct trains to London? The only way I can see it happening without an ECS movement is to have the first or second departure from Kidderminster as the loco hauled service.

I meant by the fact some Snow Hill services terminate at Kidderminster so only (2tph I think) go beyond until you reach Droitwich where it is 3tph (after 07:15) along the line to Worcester. This means it is quieter and there is more time to turn around, retaining Kiddy's service. After all, New St trains hit the Tunnel Jct-Droitwich stretch until 07:30 (Northbound) and 07:55 (Southbound), before that it's just the odd Snow Hill train so that gives plenty of time, whether the turn around is at Hartlebury or Droitwich. Now before any of you start patronising me I will make it clear. I am not trying to get a service to Droitwich (though that would be nice), I am just trying to think of ways that Kidderminster could retain (or gain) it's service by utilising what I know about traffic levels and the infrastructure there.
