New buses for Transdev 770/771

I keep seeing advertisement banners on Facebook for the changes to Transdev's 770 and 771 service.

Aside from the changing of the service number from 770/1 to 70/1, there is mention of 'new' buses for the route. Are the 'new' buses new to the route and a cascade from others? Or are they new rolling stock?

Their are no new buses on order for Harrogate other than the eight Volvo 7900EH Electric Hybrids due early next year for local routes 2A, 2B, 3, 6 and X6 (That's the Transdev X6 not the Connexions X6 - really ought to be something to stop operators using the same route number in the same town, and on almost the same route).
Two 2009 (58 reg) Volvo B7RLEs are being refurbished for use at Harrogate; 1855 FJ58 LSO and 1856 FJ58 LSU

Given its around a 3hr 20 minute round trip with a half hour frequency two go nowhere near the PVR plus there are extra daytime shorts between Harrogate and Wetherby with a PVR of 1.

1857/8 are also away for refurbishment, and more of the batch will be following.

Transdev confirmed on Facebook these are refurbed vehicles "the buses are going to be extensively refurbished". Apart from 1855-1858 mentioned on this thread, anyone know what the others are going to be?

Talking of which, there will be two route 70s in Leeds. I did ask Transdev how that was simpler. As is becoming usual with anyone asking why they're doing things, they ignored me.

No, they replied to confirm there would be two 70s in Leeds. I commented on that not sounding simpler and got no response.

I got a "thanks for your reply" from Sue at Metro but I've no idea why.

Saw a 771 earlier today with a 03 plate B7 branded on the side as something like "new vehicles coming soon next year" and below it says something like "I still have a great chassis and body, but I need to be replaced.

I'm clearly missing something. You acknowledge yourself that they replied, but because you passed a further comment due to their reply not corresponding with your viewpoint, they need to reply again?
I'm intrigued as to what it is you want them to say to you?

Harrogates reply looks pretty clear to me:
We don't share any stops and destination clearly shown on bus. We really don't think there'll be a problem, plenty of other eg's elsewhere

As for the vehicles being used I suspect could be all ex-Burnley Mainline B7's as the Optares are due to arrive shortly.

There are plenty of places with duplicated numbers, but I wouldn't have thought it was good practice - Transdev are trying to promote themselves as being better so arguing that other operators do it doesn't help.

I guess a 2 digit number is thought to be simpler to remember than a 3 digit one.

I've seen the opposite happen before, when Sovereign purchased Huntingdon & District all the 2 digit numbers became 3 by adding a 5 at the beginning eg the 53 became the 553. A few years later and back under Stagecoach operation the routes had reverted back to the original 2 digits.

All of the 08 plate Geminis went off lease with one 11 plate receiving the Pride of the North branding

That will be 1700, reg BU03SXK, an original Volvo Demonstrator so probably a vehicle that preservation beckons.
