Didn't realise EWS carried china clay in Scotland, according to that article. Thought it was slurry formed as a by-product from the paper industry that they used to transport?

The Edinburgh Evening News is hardly renowned for its accuracy unfortunately, I didn't think there was much of a clay industry here either tbh :|

They're not supposed too but since the DfT made TPE run Manchester - Scotland without any extra stock the 170s have become a bit more regular on South TPE rather than their intended stomping ground of Hull-Manchester. Still not incredibly common but a fair few services none the less.

great set of pictures, thanks for showing them to us all

. I will really have to try to visit Barnetby. What sort of frequency are the freights? and is there a good day or time of day to visit?

They have booked diagrams each day, such as 0928 CLE-MIA (none are supposed to be used on Fridays though!)

Nice shots anyway :)
