I thought they had to give at least two weeks full notice of strike action? Hence I booked tickets for the 1st earlier today!

Its bang on 14 days I'm afraid. They couldn't call it for the 31st, but the 1st in just inside the minimum.

I plan on trainspotting out of Paddington then head to Kings Cross to take a train to York on the 2nd September. I've been notified that both LNER and GWR are making schedule modifications and have not gotten any cancellations to my reservations so far.

You will be able to get a train to York on 2nd September, but there will be much fewer services than normal, and with an early finish.

Unfortunately I believe it's by 23:59 14 days before, so in reality it can be only 13 full days notice.

You will be able to get a full refund if the trains are cancelled or if you choose not to travel.

Modifications are usually announced about four days before the action is due to take place.

The Government/employers have said they’ve made their final offer. The union must believe they’re lying, and there’s more to be squeezed out of them that will cover the lost pay of their members, and some. I do wonder what gives them this level of confidence.

I found in another thread that GWR was operating to Cardiff last time. Anyone know if that was true or not?

Usually an hourly IET Cardiff Bristol Pkwy and an hourly IET Cardiff Westbury.

You have a very straightforward journey to make, in that London to York requires no changes and is a core route so will likely still have plenty of trains, just within the amended operational hours of course.

I'm so tired of all of this - I've just struggled to resolve my outgoing LNER ticket for myself and my two kids to travel up to Berwick on the 26th to visit my very much worsening parents as a summer treat. And then not much more than after a few hours later, this new strike is announced affecting our return journey.

My bucket of sympathy is pretty much empty at this point, this summer has been rubbish, I've not had a holiday and I'm having to go through the stress of dealing with this and now with the added bonus of potentially being unable able to get home, stuck >200 miles up north with no where to stay and worst case, not being able to get back on the Saturday / Sunday thanks to other disruption thus costing me a load more money.

I will leave this thread locked now as it is clear we are no further forward in terms of a resolution to this and the RMT dispute.
