I'll go for Tier 8. I've always wanted to go to Ascension Island. Weather can be quite nice this time of year.

It’s Tier 9 I’m most worried about.

It's Tier 5 I'm most worried about.

If I can't leave the bedroom between 18:00 and 09:00, what happens if I need to have a pee during the night. Do I need to buy adult nappies or a chamber pot?

Chamber Pot definitely.

Actually, I didn't see any on sale when I went round Ikea the other day, so perhaps this could be a COVID growth industry !

But even if IKEA did sell them, they would be deemed a non essential shop, and would be closed under Tier 5. :D

That's a good point. I look forward to the Sainsbury's homeware range being extended in due course

I know this is England but Sturgeon has announced a full Scottish lockdown from tonight.

Probably a taste of what our stupid leaders here in England will inflict on us soon. I don't know how they can expect anyone to cope with much more of this. The way I see it, 2020 is about to repeat itself in 2021, except the nightmare starts earlier this year. And there's no hope this time either because our 'leaders' have already shown how they will mercilessly wage war against us. At least last year we were ignorant of what they were prepared to do to us.

I think many many people will be struggling with the effects this is having on their mental health. I heard someone on the news the other day mention that 10 million people in the UK(or England alone) are seeking help on their mental health as a result of all these lockdowns/restrictions. That is a fair old number really. But then there also may be a fair old number of people who are struggling with their mental health because of all this, but haven't seeked any help for it. So the total number of people whose mental health is effected could be much much more than 10 million This has gone on for 10 months now and there is still no definite end in sight. This is just wearing down so many people, and I think many people are getting to the stage where they feel that they just can't take all this any longer. But the government and other political parties(such as Labour who are demanding a full national lockdown immediately!!) just don't seem to be concerned about this atall. It's absolutely disgraceful.

Over the past week or so I was feeling very optimistic that the tiered system and all other restrictions will soon be eased from next month and we should be back to normal or near enough normal life by Easter. But today I am now feeling not so confident this will be the case. I'm beginning to lose hope again and it's making me ill.

It's been announced today that tougher restrictions are definitely on the way, but they haven't said yet when these will be announced. I am now very anxious as to what these tougher restrictions will be.

EDIT: Just seen the news that Boris will "Address the nation" at 8pm tonight. Oh god, here we bloody go again.

This is the most frustrating thing for me, this constant drip-drip of leaked info and hints from the government whenever they are planning new restrictions. Its obvious this is in part a softening up effort, part testing the waters. If only if enough would just make it clear to the government that patience is thin, but sadly there are not enough avenues to allow dissenting voices to have their day & take place in the decision making process.

Oh ****..... :'(

I know it's bleak and depressing to speak about on these forums. But an announcement of a full national lockdown yet again, is going to cause some people to commit suicide as they just won't be able to take this.

Absolutely bloody disgraceful what the government is doing to this country.

PTSO or platform depending on the weather
I am more anxious as to the "sanction(s)" if you don't stay at home and are caught when outside of your home apart from going to/from work. This brings back to that old chestnut of "reasonable excuse". I really need to read the guidelines properly as I miss my days out to the seaside. For example, how far can I travel within a Tier 4 area for exercise (which is currently a very wide area...) ?

There is no limit in the law regarding how far you may travel, but a reasonableness test can be applied.

Unfortunately, I think you are correct. And to be honest, I can see why people feel suicidal. After all, there really doesn't seem to be any hope that things will get better.

Michael Gove said back in March that exercise duration equal to journey time would be reasonable. I would therefore be comfortable that any journey that met that criteria was reasonable

I thought this but the current suicide statistics for 2020 show no change to usual. The calls to samiritans etc are way up but people actually committing suicide or attempting from what I've read is down. Hopefully that continues but equally I can see this being the final straw for some.

The stats are highly unreliable though due to a lot of inquest delays - it's going to be a while before the accurate stats are available.

My 2 year old daughter just went back to nursery today, she's in a bubble of 9 kids and 4 staff. She was delighted about going back and seeing her friends. "Nursery today! Seeing friends!" Now I'm going to have to try and explain to her that she won't be able to again - just a day after going back. My wife is on mat leave with our 2nd so at least we're not stuffed on a childcare front but my mental health is taking a battering over this. The kids haven't seen my parents properly for months and they're missing each other and there just doesn't seem a clear end game.

It's frustrating to hear people blurt out 'lockdown' as a necessity as if it is a perfectly normal action that would be taken by a western liberal democratic nation such as this. The untold impact of that word on daily life... Words from government about 'sacrifice' from BoJo, Whitty and Valance are plain worthless now.

I hope to hear tonight about how the vacination strategy will work and how restrictions will be loosened in a logical manner. I'm certainly not saying these are difficult times, but the message has to be looking forward to how this ill solve matters, rather than pushing the pause button and hoping for inspiration.

It's good that people are being helped, and therefore not killing themselves, but they should never be put in the situation where they need help. I've said it before and I've said it again, Boris and co deserve to be charged with crimes against humanity. It'll never happen, but it would be great to see that awful man stood in a courtroom in The Hague, having the charges against him read out.

Closing schools, universities and places of worship. Plus a heavy dose of fear.

Closure of education. Possibly even a curfew though I cannot see how that can be fair or workable, or make any difference.

I would bet on those restrictions for the whole country, not just most of it - plus probably closing of schools, accompanied by much fake anguish, of course.

Hopefully not.
I just think it'll be a swift transition back to lockdown 1.0.
I'm not wishing it, but I think it will last longer.
I hope they have enough coffin nails for those businesses that will go under, just to make sure.

Seems to me people are not giving a hoot these days as everyone is fed up (well near me anyway) so Boris will read the riot act (so to speak).
